The Super Three! 3 Daily Morning Drinks For Detox and Weight Loss

Woman drinking tea in the morning

When was the last time you had a perfect morning, where everything seemed to go right and you felt positive while thinking about the rest of your day?

Getting off on the right start has to be one of the best feelings in the world. Everything seems to come together naturally and you can just feel the rest of your day is going to go just as well.

I used to have these types of mornings very rarely, but since starting each of my mornings with this drink routine I feel amazing every morning (well, maybe not every morning, but you get my drift!).

Let’s look at the 3 step regimen and see what makes it so powerful.

The second I wake up, I drink 16 oz of water.

Imagine not drinking any fluids, no water, tea, or coffee for the next 8 hours. That is pretty much what happens while you are sleeping.

Your body needs water to perform many cellular tasks, such as the transport of nutrients in and out of cells, as well as digestion and the absorption of vitamins and minerals.

The sad fact is, around 75% of us are chronically dehydrated. If you have chapped lips and / or a dry mouth, you are already dehydrated.

Often times we feel a bit woozy or get a small headache, we think that we need to eat, when in fact our body is calling out for water!

I keep a water bottle by my bed and drink it instantly when I wake up. This small task has given me more energy and is recommended by personal trainers and dietitians for weight loss and detoxification purposes.

Drinking water first thing in the morning has many benefits:

2. Shots of Apple Cider Vinegar

lots of apples

Apple cider vinegar is one of the oldest natural remedies on Earth; there is evidence of various types of vinegar being used for medicinal purposes over 5,000 years ago. Hippocrates recommended vinegar for his patients as a energizer and a healing remedy for a variety of ills.

ACV has been shown to have anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-inflammatory properties. Apple cider vinegar also lowers insulin levels and reduces the risk for heart disease.

Apple cider vinegar is also a natural diuretic, helping to rid the body of extra fluids and salts. This provides a detoxification effect and can help the body function work more efficiently, as extra fluid in the body makes it hard for the heart to work properly and can make breathing difficult.

Simply put:

This potent remedy is one of nature’s best medicines.

  • I take two ACV “shots” per day: one tablespoon in the morning and another at night. Some people take three tablespoons, while others opt for 1 to 2 teaspoons.

Be sure to always purchase apple cider vinegar with the mother intact.

The mother is a collection of beneficial bacteria, similar to the SCOBY in kombucha, that you can see floating around in the bottom of the bottle. This is filtered out in store bought vinegars, so look for an organic brand such as Bragg’s.

You can take apple cider vinegar throughout the day, it doesn’t just have to be in the morning. Some people prefer to take it on an empty stomach while others would rather take it with a meal. Experiment with this powerful vinegar and see how it can benefit your life.

3. Hot (Or Cold) Water With Honey, Lemon and Cinnamon

This is one of my favorite drinks for gut health, weight loss, energy levels, and general health throughout the body.

Honey is a healthy and natural substance that works as a great substitute for sugar. You can use it in place of sugar to sweeten foods and beverages such as tea, or even coffee!

The anti-bacterial properties of honey are well-known, and gut health issues have been found to lead to a huge range of problems, including obesity, mental problems, cancer, asthma and many more .

Small intestine bacterial overgrowth, also known as SIBO, low stomach acid, and acid reflux are all related to the same bacterial influence. A recent study has found a particularly dangerous bacteria that lead to all three conditions: Clostridium difficile.

A special type of honey from New Zealand, manuka honey, was found to be effective at killing Clostridium difficele.

Other studies have shown honey’s effectiveness at fighting dozens of other strains of bacteria, including E.Coli and salmonella.

Cinnamon is our next spotlight ingredient, and it can be placed in our drink or sprinkled on yogurt or cereal in the morning. Cinnamon is especially good at balancing our blood sugar levels, leading to potential weight loss.

Multiple studies have shown cinnamon leads to improved insulin sensitivity and glucose tolerance. Another benefit of controlling your blood sugar levels is that it helps to keep cravings at bay.

Lemon helps to cleanse the stomach and also contains powerful antioxidants that defend your body and help to protect your cells from free radicals. Lemon water has also been shown to help treat kidney stones and helps to provide vitamin C in your diet.

I like to have a hot glass of water with lemon and manuka honey dissolved within. Warm or cool water works just as well, the temperature of the drink is up to you.

This concoction never fails to invigorate my body and it starts my mornings off the right way. I sprinkle my cinnamon on my bowl of yogurt or on my morning cereal, but it can also be placed in the lemon and honey drink if you prefer.

Give It A Try Tomorrow

So there it is, my 3 daily morning drinks that can give me more energy, control cravings, provide me with antioxidants, and so much more.
