If you are new to the weight loss supplement scene you may not have heard of these powerful supplements that can boost your metabolism and accelerate weight loss.
These are supplements that have been featured on Dr. Oz show and are some of the most powerful weight loss diet pills available over the counter today.
So what am I am talking about?
Garcinia Cambogia and Green Coffee Bean Extract, of course!
These two powerful, all natural diet pills have become wildly popular since Dr. Oz did a segment on each of them.
People naturally got curious on if, and how they could combine these two supplements and achieve even better results than if they took just one.
Before we dive into that discussion, it’s important to understand how each supplement works.
Garcinia Cambogia Overview
Garcinia Cambogia is a tropical fruit which is also known as Malabar tamarind.
It first appeared on the Dr. Oz show in 2013 and has been extremely popular ever since as a powerful weight loss supplement.
It is one of the main ingredients in popular commercial weight loss products, including Xenedrine and Hydroxycut.
It is grown in South Asia, India and central Africa and is traditionally used as a sour flavor that is popular in curries and soups.
The sour flavor comes from its active ingredient, hydroxycitric acid, or HCA. HCA works by blocking an enzyme known as Citrate Lyase, which is used in the formation of fat.
Bottom Line:
Less Citrate Lyase means less fat production in your body.
Garcinia Cambogia also raises levels of the brain hormone serotonin, which causes your appetite to be suppressed.
Additionally, Garcinia Cambogia is credited with reducing lipid levels, LDL cholesterol, adipose tissue and body weight in studies with animals.
Benefits of Garcinia Cambogia Include:
- Appetite Suppressant
- Fat Blocker
- Energy Booster
- Blood Sugar and Cholesterol Regulation
Possible Side Effects:
- Dizziness
- Dry mouth
- Headache
- Upset stomach or diarrhea

Evidence To Back Up The Claims
A study conducted by the FANCL Central Research Laboratory in Japan found that participants supplementing with Garcinia Cambogia had significantly reduced visceral, subcutaneous and total fat areas compared to the placebo group (R).
In another small study, women who were overweight were given either Garcinia Cambogia extract or a placebo for 60 days. In the patients who were receiving the Garcinia Cambogia extract, trigelycerides levels were reduced by nearly one-third.
It is also worth noting that the subjects HDL, LDL and body weight didn’t change.
In my opinion, Garcinia Cambogia is a powerful supplement that has several positive effects in the body.
It can lower fat creation by blocking citrate lyase, reduce appetite and boost energy by increasing serotonin, and seems to help reduce bad cholesterol as well.
It is not a magic pill though, and you will need to be eating right and exercising to truly experience what Garcinia Cambogia can do.
The typical dose is 300 to 500 mg of Garcinia Cambogia taken three times a day with water half an hour before meals
The maximum dose is listed by Drugs.com as being 1,500 mg a day.

This study, conducted by the University of Exeter in 2011, conducted a meta-analysis of Green Coffee Bean Extract studies. They found that, overall, people who were taking green bean coffee extract were found to have significantly less body weight and a lower body fat percentage than those who took the placebo.
They did note that most of the studies involving GCBE could have been better set-up, and that more studies are needed with a higher number of participants.
Overall, Green Coffee Bean Extract seems to hold huge promise as a weight loss supplement.
The dosage amount you should aim for is around 445 mg/day, standardized to 45% chlorogenic acid or 400 mg/day standardized to 50% chlorogenic acids.
As with any supplement, check to make sure it is manufactured in approved facilities. Look for GMP standards and USP if applicable.
Can You Take Green Coffee Bean Extract and Garcinia Cambogia Together?
With the evidence showing that both green coffee bean and garcinia cambogia are potent weight loss supplements, you may be curious about combining the two for higher efficacy.
There are been no studies on this specific combination, but the idea of combining to two pills at once is nothing new.
It is called combo-pilling and has been a popular method for getting faster and better results.
So while there are no studies that used both green coffee bean extract and garcinia cambogia together, it seems like it would work.
Each supplement targets a different function of the body to increase weight loss, Garcinia Cambogia blocks citrate lyase and Green Coffee Bean Extract blocks your body from absorbing large amounts of carbohydrates.
Personal View on Combining Both Supplements
In my personal opinion, combining these two pills would lead to much faster weight loss and increase the amount of weight lost.
It is very important that you talk to your primary physician before taking one or both of these supplements. While they are both all natural and very safe, it is important to check with a doctor first.
You should also not immediately start taking both at the same time. Try Garcinia Cambogia or Green Coffee Bean Extract by themselves first, for at least a month.
Then you can try adding in the other supplement and see how they both perform!
Let’s Summarize
Overall, it is hard to conclusively say if taking both garcinia cambogia and green bean coffee extract together will lead to more weight loss versus taking them individually.
While there have been no studies on the subject, just by looking at how each supplement works and having a basic understanding of biology and chemistry, it appears strongly that you would benefit from taking both.
So do a little experimenting and try it out for yourself! Remember to be cautious and introduce the supplements slowly.
